Faith Communities Today
Faith Communities Today (FACT) is a multifaith research coalition researching congregational life in the U.S. The research partnership includes members from 25+ faith groups working with the Hartford Institute for Religion Research at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (formerly Hartford Seminary). The first national benchmark study was issued in 2000. Subsequent reports include national studies in 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2015. Our latest research in 2020 received responses from 15,278 congregations representing at least 80 denominations across four faith traditions. As a FACT partner, we have access to a network of researchers with decades of experience whose in-depth knowledge of religious bodies is invaluable. Sharing resources with other coalition members allows us to do more with our budget than we could do on our own. Additionally, having access to data from a national sample of religious bodies helps us better understand our congregations and our uniqueness and similarities with other groups.
